What should I do to prepare my carpet prior to its cleaning?
We recommend that you vacuum the carpeted area that is being cleaned. If you are unable to vacuum beforehand, the technicians can vacuum the carpet if they see fit. If the carpet does not contain a lot of loose dirt and debris, it may not be necessary to vacuum, as the equipment used in the cleaning process also serves as a vacuum.
Will I need to remove or relocate the furniture?
Stanley Steemer does not charge to move furniture. Our technicians will safely move as much furniture as possible and put it back in its rightful spot once the carpet is cleaned. The technicians will leave protective blocks or padding underneath the furniture to allow the carpet to completely dry. Some items we cannot move are: electronics, pianos, china cabinets, beds and dressers with mirrors.
Will it take long for the cleaning process to be completed?
Time will vary based on the size of the carpet being cleaned, whether or not we need to move furniture and if the carpet requires spot-removal treatment. However, for an average-sized room that requires minimal spot cleaning and furniture removal, it usually takes about 20 minutes.

Yes. After cleaning with our hot water extraction method, we use powerful suction equipment that removes 95% of the moisture. Avoid walking on the carpet barefoot or with shoes that you wear outside, as this is likely to cause the carpet to become soiled or stained. Instead, wear clean rubber-soled shoes or slippers to avoid dirtying your freshly-cleaned carpet.
