Removing Oil Stains From Carpets Tutorial

Removing oil stains left by greasy food is a chore, and one that we all frequently struggle with. The smallest spills can leave the ugliest stains and make you want to avoid eating near your carpets altogether. Stanley Steemer has an easy method to removing oil stains caused by food. You can also follow along with the video we’ve provided.

For this tutorial you’ll need:

  • Clean white towels
  • A spray bottle
  • Baking soda
  • A spoon
  • Vacuum cleaner
  • Cold water
  • Ammonia
  • White vinegar

Sprinkle some baking soda on the stain and then press it against the carpet with your spoon. The baking soda will start clumping up and becoming discolored. Vacuum up the baking soda and then repeat this process until it does not clump up anymore.

Next, create a solution of 12 ounces of water and three ounces of ammonia. Put the solution in a spray bottle and spray the affected area. Blot the area dry with a clean towel and repeat this process until you believe no more of the stain can be removed. After this is done, flush the area with cold water and dry it with a towel.

Create a solution with 12 ounces of water and four ounces of white vinegar, then spray the solution over the affected area. Let it set for at least one minute before you press it dry with a towel. Afterwards, rinse the area with clean water and let it dry completely before you walk on it.
